A quiz about the birthday person, the couple getting married or your group of friends is the game everyone remembers. In the Partizo app, the “My quizzes” feature lets you write your own questions, each with 4 answers, then play them with the Quiz's timer, teams and scores. Here is how to prepare one, on your phone or on a computer, with a free template file and 40 question ideas.
In the app, in a few minutes
- Open the Quiz, choose the mode (all together, one at a time or in teams), then tap My quizzes. Your quiz's questions are asked in a new order every game.
- Tap Create a quiz and give it a name, for example “Emma's 30th”.
- Add your questions: the question, then 4 answers, tapping the circle of the right one. The order of the answers is shuffled every game.
- From 5 complete questions, the Play button lights up. A quiz can hold up to 100 questions, and you can keep 20 quizzes.
Prepare the quiz in a spreadsheet
For a long quiz, or to get your friends involved, a spreadsheet is easiest: one question per row, with the question, the right answer, then three wrong answers.
- Download the quiz template (Excel) and open it with Excel, LibreOffice or Google Sheets, on a computer or on your phone.
- Replace the examples with your questions. The first row (the column titles) is skipped on import.
- Save the file in Excel format (.xlsx), the template's own. In Google Sheets: “File”, “Download”, “Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)”.
- Get the file onto your phone, whichever way suits you, then in the app: My quizzes, Import, From a file. Your phone also lets you pick a file stored in your cloud.
On your phone, even simpler: select the filled-in cells, copy them, then in the app: My quizzes, Import, Paste text.
Paste text
Without a file, you can also copy and paste your questions into the app (Import, Paste text), in one of these two forms:
- One question per line, the cells separated by semicolons: “What is Emma's favourite dish?; Lasagne; Pizza; Sushi; Tacos”. Copying from a spreadsheet works too.
- Blocks separated by an empty line: the question on the first line, then the 4 answers, one per line, the right one starting with an asterisk (*). Without an asterisk, the first answer is the right one.
Swap a quiz
Inside a quiz, the Share the quiz menu sends a file to a friend, who imports it in turn with Import. Handy to prepare the quiz together, or to hand it to whoever hosts the night.
Writing good questions
- Believable wrong answers: if the right answer is “Lasagne”, offer other dishes, not “A bicycle”. The quiz gets much funnier when everyone hesitates.
- Shared memories: questions about moments lived together make people laugh and bring out the stories.
- Nothing hurtful: the person celebrated should laugh at the answers, not feel exposed. Keep sensitive topics out.
- A mix of easy and hard: a few questions everyone gets, a few only close friends know.
